Our Story

A name worth carrying on.

Coach Cecil Doyle ran the sidelines at DeRidder High in the '50s and '60s. His name lives on the door of a kitchen his son and grandson have spent fifty years building.

Cecil Doyle was the head football coach at DeRidder High School in the 1950s and 1960s — a man who knew how to feed a hungry locker room and a hungry town. After football, he opened a string of restaurants across the parish that became local fixtures.

In 2008, his son David Doyle opened Cecil's Cajun Kitchen in downtown DeRidder to honor his father's name. David had already spent fifty years in the restaurant business by then. In 2016, Cecil's grandson Jon took over the kitchen — three generations, one family, one front door on West 1st Street.

What started as a tribute is now the table everybody in DeRidder pulls up a chair to: Friday night football crowds, Sunday lunch after church, anniversaries in the party room, a beer at the bar after a long week.
